FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT AMONG HINCKLEY’S WRIGGLY READERS THANKS TO THE HEART OF ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY

Monday, March 13, 2017

Wriggly Readers at Hinckley Library tucked into some tasty Fairtrade treats courtesy of The Heart of England Co-operative Society.

The Society donated Fairtrade bananas and cookies to babies and toddlers, and their parents and grandparents as they learned more about the plight of producers in developing countries whose goods end up on shelves across the western world.

The event was organised in partnership with the Hinckley Fairtrade Group, to help spread the Fairtrade message.

The Society has also donated tea, coffee and biscuits for all coffee mornings held at the library over Fairtrade Fortnight.

Jo Dyke, Community and Membership Adviser of the Society, said: “Many of our customers purchase Fairtrade goods but not everyone understands how each and every purchase helps make a difference.

“Every year, Fairtrade Fortnight gives the perfect opportunity for us as an ethical retailer to educate consumers on how every Fairtrade purchase helps provide better pay and conditions for producers in developing countries.”
