The Heart of England Co-operative Society’s Funeral Division has taken delivery of three new Mercedes Benz hearses and three new Mercedes Benz limousines.

Worth a collective £700,000, two of the hearses and two limousines will be used at The Co-operative Funeralcare in Nuneaton while the remaining vehicles will complement the Society’s existing fleet in Rugby.

All vehicles have been supplied by Westhoughon-based coach builders Coleman Milne.

Darryl Smith, General Manager of the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s Funeral Division, said the vehicles, all with a tenorite grey finish, were a classic design incorporated with 21st technology features. The hearses are also fitted with an expansive glass roof allowing natural light into the deck area.

Darryl said: “Over time we have been updating our fleet with these stunning vehicles from Coleman Milne and we have had some excellent feedback from client families on their style and comfort.

“This latest investment represents one of our largest Coleman Milne orders to date and the team have been so helpful throughout the process.”

With a history stretching back to the 1830s the Heart of England Co-operative Society operates a network of 13 funeral homes across Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
