Talented schoolchildren captured the spirit of Christmas in the designs submitted in this year’s Heart of England Co-operative Society’s popular Christmas Card Competition.

The children were asked to think about ‘What Christmas Means to You’ for the theme of the competition, which is now in its 19th year.

Attracting numerous entries from schoolchildren across Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, the competition was won by Milly-May Mundy of Stoke Primary School, Coventry.

Milly-May impressed the judges with a charming Christmas scene featuring candy canes, a Christmas tree, a gingerbread house with Rudolph peering out.

The runner-up entries came from Nikola Pacajova of Castlewood School, Coventry and Lottie Hopkins of Racemeadow Primary Academy in Atherstone.

Nikola impressed the judges with her simplistic portrayal of Santa and his sleigh while Lottie produced a beautiful design of Santa in his sleigh rising into a starlit sky.

Thanks to Milly-May’s winning creation, Stoke Primary School has been awarded a £500 prize from the Society, while Milly-May herself won £50 worth of cinema vouchers.

Meanwhile Nikola and Lottie have each won their schools £250, while they received £25 worth of cinema vouchers.

The winning entry has been reproduced and printed for use by the Heart of England Co-operative Society for Christmas.
