New coffee shop launched in Attleborough after £300,000 revamp of Co-op food store

A new artisan coffee shop has opened its doors in Attleborough, Nuneaton following a £300,000 revamp of the Heart of England Co-op’s food store in Kem Street.

The business opened on 27th April and is the latest development in a commercial link-up between the Heart of England Co-op and Bewiched Coffee.

The coffee shop, which has created ten jobs, boasts two entrances – a glass fronted exterior door and an access point inside the Co-op building for food shoppers to easily access.

A seating area caters for nearly 70 people, with more tables outside where customers can enjoy a drink and a snack in the fresh air. Dogs on leads are also welcome inside.

Manager Anya Bennett, who leads the ‘Brew Crew’, a team of highly skilled baristas, says the coffee shop has already been buzzing with customers.

“The feedback so far has been really positive, and the coffee has been going down very well. During the launch period we have been engaging with people from the local community in different ways. We’ve had in-store tastings, selfie sessions with Bewiched mascots and even a ‘dress up your pooch’ activity for dog owners which was a lot of fun.”

Steve Browne, Chief Executive of the Heart of England Co-op, is delighted that the partnership with Bewiched is going from strength to strength with another coffee shop opened at one of its food store locations.

“As an independent co-operative society with a local focus, we have a lot of synergy with Bewiched, sharing many of the same values,” he said.

“As a multisite franchisee, we have opened a number of locations over recent years, including our first drive thru at Glenvale Park in Wellingborough and the second for Bewiched, with more branches set to open between now and the end of the year.

“Our customers often comment about the quality of Bewiched coffee, and there is a strong emphasis on providing a welcoming service with a friendly, personal feel.”

In addition to its signature coffee, the café also offers a range of teas, milkshakes and smoothies. Snacks include sandwiches, pastries, and paninis, with a choice of cakes and slices.

The Bewiched chain was founded in 2010 by Matt Fountain in neighbouring Northamptonshire after he invested his redundancy money into launching a coffee shop in Wellingborough.

Matt discovered he had the Midas touch in business and the Bewiched chain now numbers 20 coffee shops.

“It’s been great to see our partnership with the Heart of England Co-op develop,” he said.

“The shop premieres our new style of design with gentle nods to our overall branding, bringing an elevated feel to the coffee experience, which I think our customers at Attleborough will really enjoy.

“The shop looks fantastic. We aim to deliver amazing service as usual, with the best freshly roasted coffee. You simply can’t beat it.”
