Farewell to a True Ambassador: Clive Miles Retires After Over 50 Years of Service

“Clive said that his retirement has been a time of reflection, recalling the five years apprenticeship and studying at the Co-op college Stanford Hall.”

After more than five decades of unwavering dedication, Clive Miles has stepped down from his role as President of the Heart of England Society, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter in our history.

Clive’s journey with us began over 50 years ago, and throughout his career in food retail, he wore many hats — Store Manager, Area Manager, Auditor, 29 years as a Director on the Board, and ultimately, President of the Board for the past nine years. His deep-rooted commitment and integrity have left an indelible mark on our Society and the communities we serve.

For those fortunate enough to know Clive, he has been more than a leader — he’s been a steward of our values. He championed our collective efforts and held the Executive to account with fairness and wisdom. His leadership was grounded in a profound sense of responsibility and care, always putting the Society’s best interests first.

Now, Clive turns the page to a well-earned retirement. He’ll be spending more time tending to his beloved garden, enjoying peaceful moments with his wife Elaine, and soaking up the sunshine in Tenerife. While we’ll miss his presence and guidance, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.

“The numerous people I have worked with and learnt from has been a privilege that I will never forget. I would like to convey my very best wishes to all at the Heart Of England that I’ve had the privilege and pleasure working alongside.”

From all of us at Heart of England, thank you, Clive — for your decades of service, your unwavering support, and your remarkable leadership. We wish you a retirement filled with joy, health, and well-deserved relaxation.
